The Green Guide to Specification
The construction industry has an important role in the development of a more sustainable approach to the environment. The "polluter pays" principle together with a raft of recent UK and EU environmental legislation has forced designers, developers and owners to be alert to the environmental impact of their buildings. This guide is part of the BREEAM programme and uses a widely-accepted environmental profiling system that compares the environmental performance of construction materials and components. Although primarily a guide to greener specification, "The Green Guide to Specification" also gives data on cost and durability to ensure that environmental issues are considered in the wider context of specification choices.
